Child Therapy

Picture

Child therapy provides support for children who are struggling emotionally, behaviorally, or socially. At StoneBridge Counseling, we work with children who may be having difficulty managing emotions, coping with stress, adjusting to changes, or expressing themselves in healthy ways.
Children often communicate distress through behavior, mood changes, or difficulties at home or school. Therapy offers a safe, supportive space for children to build skills, improve emotional regulation, and feel better understood, while also supporting parents in the process.
Child therapy is tailored to a child’s age, developmental level, and needs. Sessions may include play-based approaches, creative expression, and age-appropriate activities to help children communicate and build coping skills. Parents are included as appropriate to support progress outside of sessions.

Common Concerns in Child Therapy

Our therapists provide support for a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and social challenges, including:
• Anxiety, worry, and fears
• Emotional outbursts or difficulty regulating emotions
• Mood changes or withdrawal
• Behavioral concerns at home or school
• Difficulty adjusting to life changes or transitions
• Social challenges or low self-confidence
• And more
Our goal is to help children build confidence, navigate challenges, and develop the skills they need to succeed in all areas of life.

Personalized Therapy Approach

When working with children, there is never a one-size-fits-all approach. Our therapists adapt their methods based on each child’s age, individual needs, and response to interventions.
We use a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including:
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – helps children identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors
  • Play Therapy – uses play as a natural way for children to express feelings and work through challenges
  • Person-Centered Therapy – creates a supportive environment where children feel understood and valued
  • …and many more techniques designed to meet each child’s unique needs
