Supervision for LCMHCA
Experience I have over 23 years of experiences as a mental health professional and 18 years as a clinical mental health counselor. I have worked with a wide range of ages, clinical populations, and in settings ranging from the community, in-home, government-based, and private practice.
I earned a BS in Psychology from Kent State University in Ohio and MA in Psychology from NC Central University. I have worked with children, teens and adults from ages 6 to 76 on most major diagnostic categories including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and trauma-related disorders. In addition, I have extensive experience with relationship and couples therapy primarily using the Gottman Method Couples Therapy approach. Prior to private practice I had the unique opportunity while working within Wake County Human Services to attend every psychiatry appointment with every one of my clients. Working side-by-side with psychiatrists has given me a richer understanding of psychiatry and how to best understand the use of psychiatric medications in the overall treatment of clients. It also provided me skill with interviewing, assessment, and crisis management and hospitalization. |
